The monastery is 6 km. from the main town and it is the most remarkable Byzantine monastery on the island. In the interior you will see the impressive frescoes of painter Georgios Markos as well as old documents and relics. Furthermore, in the premises of the monastery there are guesthouses and workshops where nuns draw pictures, make candles and weave.
The monastery celebrates on August 23rd – 25th with a big festival in honor of the Virgin.
